The best time to book is the quiet season.
Frozen ground stops planting, not planning. Winter is when we design, quote and schedule the hardscape work that everyone else calls about in May.
Every spring the same thing happens. The calendar fills in three weeks.
The first warm Saturday in April is when most people in this county start thinking about the patio. By then the build calendar for the season is largely spoken for.
Design and quoting do not need thawed ground. We can walk a property in January, see the grade, see exactly where snowmelt runs and where ice forms, and put a real plan together while there is time to think about it properly.
Winter also shows you things summer hides. Where meltwater crosses a walk, which corner of the yard stays frozen longest, where the ice sheet forms every year. That is drainage information you cannot get in July, and it makes for a better design.
- Sites walked in winter reveal the drainage problems a summer visit misses.
- Designs get real time instead of being turned around between two spring builds.
- Pricing quoted early before the spring rush moves material and labor costs.
- Work starts first as soon as the ground opens, not eight weeks into the season.
Design now, build first thing
The projects that take planning are the ones worth starting in the cold months.

Walls need engineering and sometimes a permit. Winter is when there is time to get both right before a shovel moves.

Layout, material selection and a real drawing, so the build is a build and not a series of decisions made on site.

Winter melt shows you exactly where water goes. That is the best possible time to design a fix.

Seasonal and per-push plowing and salting running all winter across the county.
Four steps, no surprises
Call during the quiet months
December through March. We have time to actually talk through what you want the space to do.
We walk it in the cold
And note where the snow piles, where the melt runs and where the ice forms. That information is worth having.
Design and firm quote
With time to revise it. Pricing is locked before the spring demand curve moves material and labor.
Built first thing
Your project starts as soon as the ground opens, instead of waiting behind everyone who called in April.
Winter project questions, answered
Can hardscaping actually be installed in winter?
Some of it, yes. Excavation and wall work can continue into cold weather as long as the ground is workable and not frozen solid. Planting, seeding and anything needing thawed soil waits for spring. We will tell you honestly which side of that line your project sits on.
Why book in winter instead of spring?
Because the spring calendar fills in about three weeks. Booking in the quiet months means design gets real attention, pricing is locked before the rush, and your build starts as soon as the ground opens rather than months into the season.
Does a winter quote cost anything?
No. On-site estimates are free year round. Walking a property in winter often produces a better plan, because snowmelt shows you drainage problems that a dry July visit will not.
Will the price change by spring?
We quote a firm number and honor it. Booking early is how you get ahead of seasonal movement in material and labor cost rather than behind it.
Do you do snow removal as well?
Yes. Seasonal contracts and per-push plowing and salting for residential drives and commercial lots across Washtenaw County, running all winter.
Where we work
We work across Washtenaw County year round from Grass Lake, plowing in winter and building the rest of the year.
